Default inexpensive commander

Just for curiosities sake, who makes a good inexpensive commander sized 1911 with an ambidextrous safety

check out the MetroArms American Classic Commander. very well made pistols and my second one made by them. priced at $699 MSRP and i paid $590 + tax for mine NIB. it was the one i ordered for a custom project i had in mind. here's a link to my thread on the project. and a link to Gungenie with the specs on the pistol.

Is the Ruger ambidextrous ? I may be mistaken but I'm thinking it isn't.

the ambi safety is an easy modification and wouldn't cost much to buy. check out Brownells or MidwayUSA for them.

To add an ambi safety is not that hard or expensive.
