Default An incredible 1911 training video from US Army 1944

Wow....although most of this was common sense I can honestly say I learned a lot and have an entirely new respect for the 1911 after seeing it in use by the US army in this training video

100 years later while I comfortably plink paper targets at 20 yards with my shiny stainless Sig GSR 1911...I'm reminded of what this gun truly stood for: freedom baby! LONG LIVE THE 1911

JMB was a genius

Thanks for posting.
Brought back memories.
The other films are great.

I also thank you for posting that. It is very interesting how training has changed, even though the gun hasn't.

There was way too much finger on the triggers then I would tolerate, and the sweeping! Ohhhhh my!!!

Their two handed grip taught just wouldn't work for me.

I sure would like to have a case of the tracer ammo.

Man I love those vids! I still use the "cup and saucer" grip sometimes. I hear it's not good now though

Yeah, more so than we could tolerate these days. The accidents of that era are what led to the safety precautions of this era!!

My grandad used to tell me stories about how it was normal for them to sometimes fire while people were downrange checking their targets.

Just freaking amazing... He said his drill sergeants would tell them not to worry about it, they needed to get used to getting shot at anyway.
