Wow....although most of this was common sense I can honestly say I learned a lot and have an entirely new respect for the 1911 after seeing it in use by the US army in this training video

100 years later while I comfortably plink paper targets at 20 yards with my shiny stainless Sig GSR 1911...I'm reminded of what this gun truly stood for: freedom baby! LONG LIVE THE 1911

they really are, watched the one on the famous M1 Garand and have an even bigger respect for the gun now. Amazing pieces of film

There was way too much finger on the triggers then I would tolerate, and the sweeping! Ohhhhh my!!!

Their two handed grip taught just wouldn't work for me.

I sure would like to have a case of the tracer ammo.

Yeah, more so than we could tolerate these days. The accidents of that era are what led to the safety precautions of this era!! :)

My grandad used to tell me stories about how it was normal for them to sometimes fire while people were downrange checking their targets.

Just freaking amazing... He said his drill sergeants would tell them not to worry about it, they needed to get used to getting shot at anyway.
