Defaultis a inch an a half group with my 1911.

is that any thing to be ashamed of. i am shooting the springfield 1911 range officer.

Only if it was done at 7 yards or less.

Eh, 1.5" at 5 yards is still a torso hit at 50 .

But, it also depends on how quickly you were shooting, and from what position. Two 1.5" double-taps within 1 second is good even from 3 years .

That is absolutely TERRIBLE!! I think you need to send me that pistol imediately before someone gets hurt.

Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of for a 5, 7, 8 or 10 shot group.
In my experience, that is good shooting considering offhand, ball ammo, fixed sights, etc.

Think of it this way...you could have 3 shots touching edge to edge and be pert near an inch measured center to center already.

eta: my reference to shame above considers the shooter to be at least 7 yards from the target
