If money was no object I would get either a Ed Brown or a Wilson Combat pistols.

Les Baer Custom......The only 1911 built from the beginning with each and every part hand fitted to the pistol. Also the best value for the dollars spent.

I have seen and worked on all of them...nobody does it better than Baer !

Les Baer personally shoots each and every firearm built by his company before it ships...his seal of approval !

Neither one. I already own three 1911's from the one lone company I think makes the best product out there when you remove the "name" attachment of Les, or Ayoob, or Dave Lauck.

Nighthawk Customs - Period

Well I just got and shot my first 1911 (Kimber CompactII) so after I hold and shoot a few more I will cast my opinion.

I really like all of the Kimbers, Paras and SIGs that I've fired. I really couldn't tell much difference between my Kimber and the Wilsons that I've fired. I've never fired anything else, but would really like to pick up a Les Baer or Nighthawk. I have a hard time spending over $2k though, when I'm happy with my $700 pistol.

A vintage original WWI or WWII army issue.

I like the 1911 in Terminator 2. The one that Linda Hamilton shot the black guy with, stainless with a six inch slide. Very cool.

Boy eher are so many custom smiths turning out such great guns it would be hard to choose .

I know I wouldn't buy one if one is all I could afford because it would be just my luck I would have to use it to defend myself and the cops would take it away for months as eveidence until I was all cleared of wrongdoing .

Yost , Clark , and Pacymayer are the ones I've fired and yes those custom guns are worth the money .

I would love to have a Robar made gun with their Rogard or Np3 finish but in the end if I had to pick just one it would have to be the best of the best and it aint a $3,000 gun it's closer to a $5,000 gun and that would be a Pistol Dynamics Combat Special made by an ex Pachmayr Smith named Paul Liebnenberg .

Check out their website sometime and be prepared to drool , when you don't just want a great gun but a "Hellofa Gun" give them a call .
