I know that there will be lots of purests out there. I held a 1911 with a Doctor red dot sight OMG it was way cool. OK who out there is doing what I am thinking of?
I looks like the target was so quick and follow up was even better. let me here the thoughts
The maximum use of force is in no way incompatible with the simultaneous use of the intellect.
Was it a race gun, or just a basic 1911? Any pics?
"The Marines I have seen around the world have, the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps." Eleanor Roosevelt, 1945
I put a nice red dot sight on my Ruger Mark III, and it's really a nice setup. But, I just couldn't go with one on my 1911. I must be in that "purist" camp mentioned. I did, however, go with some Williams Fire Sights on my 1911. That opened up a bright new world, and target acquisition is much faster, at least for me. Maybe the fiber optic step should be taken before the red dot on the 1911. Just my 2 cents...
I don't think I'd like one on my 1911's. But I tend to carry them and I don't think the sight lends itself to that activity too well. A target/range weapon I can see where it might be nice. I put a 4x Leupold on a MKIII a while back and I love that thing.
