Your not alone Last year while field stripping my new S&W 1911,The Recoil spring plunger Shot up in the air,? And to this day still never found it.I searched my whole room where it happened.? So the next day,I ordered 2 more from S&W parts dept.? just in case.? Hopefully It may show up somewhere,? Maybe stuck between the couch cushions etc.?

Not necessarily. Mine never showed up. Maybe hell get lucky and be spared that little bit of frustration!

When I had less experience with firearms, I lost a piece on one.

The wife (at that time) raised all kinds of heck with me when she found it on a kitchen chair.
The one that she sat in with a white dress. The little oil and gunpowder residue left a mark on the backside.
