Grease

Hat kind of grease do yall recommend for your 1911, and where do you put the grease, I only use gun oil, never used grease

That is suppose to say what kind, sorry guys

I do not use grease. I use gun oil. I put a drop on the pivot point of the hammer, the link on the barrel, one drop where the barrel locks up with the slide, one drop between the barrel and bushing and a drop on each side of the frame where it meets with the slide.

I like TW25b made by Mil-Comm. I mainly use it on the frame rails that make contact with the slide.

YES. Great stuff from my experience. They offer free samples if you send them an email.

I use it on rails, moving parts, and inside the barell for extended storage per mil-comm directions. It's safe stuff, anywhere it goes will run smooth and prevent rust for the most part.

+2 on this. This is what I use as well.
I have also used Brian Enos' Slide Glide. Great stuff, as well.

I've always used a light coat of oil, but since reading this and similar threads, I've tried Rig Universal grease on my auto pistol slides and the bolt rollers on my M1 carbine and Mini-14. Jury's still out, seems like grease would be a dirt magnet, but we'll see.

After I clean, I drench everything in this spray on penetrating oil I got at work. I used to use gear oil, but the spray is so much more convenient.

After doing that, I wipe off the excess. Then I spray a red penetrating grease on the rails, another product given to me at work. Then I wipe off the excess there.

I clean usually with hot soapy water.

I apply a small amount of white litheum (sp) on the slide & frame rails -
Other than that just a good gun oil-
