Got my First 1911..
.. at the weekend. shoots well and was getting ok groupings.
Not mad on the sights for it though.
Its a colt 1911 A1 government model. anyone know if there's a websote to get better sights for it?

Midway, brownell's, maybe cylinder and slide...
Ebay! They are selling some parts now.
Just try google, you'll get so many results you'll go cross eyed. The 1911 has one of the biggest aftermarkets there is.

That's what i done, and got that result too!
Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or at least narrow it down. will have a look on ebay

If your Colt is a model of the M1911 A1 it has GI style "hump and bump" sights. (front sight is a staked type)
You will need to have a gunsmith install modern sights if you want to change them.
Most modern 1911 sights are dovetailed.
