Default Got any dirty pics (of 1911s that is)

Post pictures of your dirty 1911s.

This one got into the sand a bit, but it continued to run for quite a while.

I know most 1911 guys baby their guns, but this one is a tool and I wanted to see how far I could push it on that range session.

Let's see how filthy you let yours get, before you can't stand it anymore.

She got sluggish, right after it got dropped in the sand and needed to be assisted to battery for teh next couple shots. But dropping the mag, shaking it out really well and racking the slide a few times got it feeding again. There was sand between the hammer and slide that cause a couple light strikes in the first mag, Once that was blown out it continued to run.

Some sand got into teh trigger raceway and made the trigger pull about double in weight of pull and was really gritty, but afeter the first couple mags it was improving.

Not a Glock, but with immediate action drills it could be made to run and as grit got blown out, it improved and went back to normal but gritty operation.

Finished out the session with headshots at 40 feet for the last few mags, One two handed, one single hand and one weak hand.

Not bad at all. As you said most guys baby their 1911 so you don't hear about many torture tests.

WOW! You have some guts to do that to a nice looking 1911! I like this thread and your idea. I too would loke to see more 1911's run through the ringer. Just not mine lol

This pistol was a pawn shop rescue. It was missing several parts when I bought it (Grip safety, Trigger, Front sight, Grip screw bushings, Grips.) I bought it as a project for under $200. After I did the work on it and refinished it I decided to take it to the range and run it through it's paces. It got knocked of the bench at the range and landed in the sand, so....inspiriation for a quick test.

Also decided to try my Kim-Pro Tac Mags and Wilsons with a bit of sand sprinkled in. Both types worked fine.

Should have taken it off for the tile cutting. Two days of cutting tile left a thick, clay-like slime and crust on the exposed parts. A little more white paint for a top-coat. Complete Detail strip was required. Not really bad inside tho'
