first handgun

ok ive posted about buying my first handgun a few times and i really wanted a sig sp 2022 but i have officially decided to buy a 1911 i was just curious what your opinions are on the sti spartan III,IV,V just wondering about 5 to 6 hundred is my budget.but i might go 7 or 8 if its a really good deal. would be for range practice and home defense only.

Why not find a Sig 1911? The SP2022 is a nice pistol and is very accurate. 9mm and .40 cal ammo is usually much cheaper than 45 so that 2022 might be a better option if your looking at being tight on funds.

I however whole heartedly support the purchase of a 1911

Don't overlook a Rock Island because of the price.. They are great pistols, just change the stock grip!

Whatever you get, make sure it has a beavertail on it. Those mil spec tangs are murder on the webbing of your hand.

Check out Centerfire. They have Rock Island 3" 1911's with skeleton hammer and trigger, and beavertail for a little over $400. Rock Islands will eat just about anything, and for a price that doesn't make you afraid to go out and shoot it. Not meant to be pampered.

well heres the thing im 14 and im going to be saving for quite awhile before i go get it and the spartan 5in. just cought my eye and i have pretty big hands so i want something full sized as of right now i have saved about 20 bucks so i want something a little cheaper than most 1911's.

If this is your first 1911 I would strongly strongly suggest that you go with a full size pistol and avoid the 3 inch models. While 3" has its place they give a different user experience. I doubt you would go wrong with a spartan IV or V. Also don't overlook Rock Island Armory which offer good pistols at a great price and great customer service.

This is not mine for sale and not soliciting, but here is an example of a GREAT 1911 for your price range...

well thanks and i looked at the rock island tactical but the thing is im not going to lie i really dont think i can handle a 45. so the spartan was 9mm and i thought id just get that. but that kimber looks NICE i just dont have a credit card so i cant buy online. but if i find a kimber at that price that will be what i get and just deal with the recoil.
