Default first 1911

Got tired of waiting for the ruger so I read up on here and saw nothing bad about the Springfield. Stopped at a shop to look after work tonight and picked up a nice little SA 1911 A1 for a whopping $450. Not the model I had planned on but for the price I couldn't say no. Plus it gives me a reason to get A nicer one later.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Canebrake, what's your opinion on SA 1911's? I'm curious, you know I'm wanting to get a 1911 sometime soon, but cost is always a factor for me. I know they make some that cost beaucoup dough, but one of their basics or milspecs would be right up my alley features and money wise.

Don't tell anyone, (I have a Colt image to maintain) but I think Springer makes a damn fine 1911.

I did check out the 1911 Loaded but $1000+ vs. $450 with the same base minus the nicer extras. I look forward to playing with it this weekend.

You did well. The SA 1911A1 is a fine pistol. As someone I know always says, now go shoot the snot out of it.

Nothing amazing by any means, but it's pretty in its own way

That's really more my style than the Gold Cup or S&W E-series I've been kicking around the idea of. Simplicity is beautiful, hence my inherent love for revolvers, and even old BP pistols.

There is a little known disease out there.

1911-itis, and if not kept in check, could develop into a serious problem.

Congrats on the new handgun.
