Finally Joined the Club!
Well... I had my eyes on a Springfield, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on my slightly used Remington R1. It isn't as flashy as I set out to buy, but all in all I am pleased with my purchase. If I ever get to the range, I will pass along my experiences.

You joined the club, but you haven't paid your dues yet...get to work!
The R1 looks real nice and to me, that's a great beginning into 1911's.
Heck, even Cane bought one on spec.
Post up a range report when you can.

300 rounds of 230 grain FMJ will be here "Friday"... According to FedEx tracking. They are usually right.

I really like the classic look of these without the front cocking serations. Nice gun, and welcome to the club.

Hmmm...it looks pretty good to me. I bet you'll love shooting it...those 300 rounds you have coming via FedEx will go pretty fast, so you might as well reorder now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 1911s. The one thing I love about the is the upgrading to your liking. One minor suggestion I can offer is if the grip keeps on biting ur hand after a couple of rounds...look into an extended beaver tail for it. You won't regret it and ur firing hand will thank u.
