Congrats on the 1911 and an excellent choice of manufacturer

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Well fellas got to put some rounds through it today before the ran hit. This gun functioned flawless. not even a hitch. Real nice havin a quality firearm. Did notice that it does shoot a bit high. I think I might invest in a better set of sights for it. All in all, Im very pleased. Cant wait till my LTCH comes in, so I can keep it on my hip.

Make sure you don't carry it until you have put a whole lotta lead down the barrel. Especially as your first 1911.

BTW, "whole lotta" means more than 500 rounds of FMJ, then SEVERAL magazines of your carry ammo. Don't go cheap on buying extra carry ammo so you can run a bunch of it through there. If you ever decide to change carry ammo, you also need to completely test THAT ammo, too.

I usually stick with 7 yards, but will also usually run a mag or two at 10 yards, just for fun. Most self defense scenarios happen well within 21 feet, so if you're practicing for that purpose, then 7 yards is good.

5-7 yards is a distance you better be super good at, so a majority of your time should be at that range IMO. But you might as well play at longer distances every now and then. 25 feet seems a little far to me.

One of the ranges I shoot at, though, requires only full-length shooting, which is 50 feet. STOOPID!
