Default Federal Ordnance .45 question

I can not find anything on the .45. Does anyone know anything about this .45, The only ID on the gun is Government Model/ Fed Ord/ Atomatic Cal. 45. this is printed on the inside of a diamond shape on the left side of the slide. On the right side is the following, Serial #F87 00507. Above the serial# is FEDERAL ORDNANCE-S.E.M CA. Any help would be great.
