Default Does this sound like a magazine problem?

Today after about 100 rounds, the Sistema wasn't locking back when the last round fired. It did it intermittently. I also had several failures to feed.

I was using two WC 47D 7 rounderss, two Chip McCormick Shooting Star 8 rounders and two Kimber 8 rounders. Unfortunately I didn't think to note which mags were in the pistol when it would fail. However, I'm pretty sure the Wilson's were good.

The mag springs in the Kimbers and Chips seem kind of slack.

Do you think that's it?

Not saying for sure its your problem, but the plastic follower on the one 8rd 47D I had wore down at the contact point with the slide lock of my Kimber.
Had less than 200 rounds through it when it quit locking the slide to the rear after the last shot. Switched to the Tripps with hybrid followers (thanks Cane) and haven't had a problem since.

Check the follower where it makes contact with the slide lock lever inside the magwell and see if there is a small groove worn in the follower.

Thanks, I'll do that in the daylight. My garage is dark as a tomb.

Your welcome.

Don, check the followers.

If you don't want to pay for new Tripp Cobra mags do the next best thing, rebuild your existing mags with Tripp internals.

Call Aaron at 1.877.837.9445 with a list of your mags and ask him about the Super7 Upgrade Kit.

Tripp Research Inc. 1911 Magazines

From their site:
Super7 Upgrade Kit 1911, .45 ACP, 7 round.

Fits other brands of 7/8 round .45 gov't length mags. Upgrade gives 7 round cap. This kit produces 7 round cap. solves many lock-back and feeding issues.
