Deployment Commemorative Pistol
My son is in 101st Airborne and was deployed to Afghanistan May 2010 to May 2011. He sent me an email in August 2010 with an offer from Para USA for a commemorative 1911. I knew my son could not afford the pistol and did some research and realized they were selling these pistols for about $400 to $500 below their retail. I could not resist I called Para and asked if a non military person could purchase this firearm. They said anyone with the order number could purchase one. My son knows me all too well the number was in the email from Para. I ordered in October with a tentative delivery date of April just before his May return. Well April came and no pistol. May came and went no pistol. I called Para they said they were running a little behind and thought June would be the delivery date. To make a long story short I was running errands the day before Thanksgiving when I got a call from the shooting facility that I belong to, the pistol had arrived. With me son arriving the same day from Fort Lee this was perfect. I picked it up immediately and had it for his arrival. He could not believe it, right he knew his father would by it. We took it to the range yesterday along with several other guns, what a day.

Excellent looking pistol! You said you took it to the range? What were the results?

Great day at the range we fired 70 rounds loaded up each of the 5 14 round magazines it came with. My son shot 4 to 5 inch groups from 10 meters. But the smile on his face obviously was priceless. It is his first 1911, but I may have upset my daughter inlaw he was looking at add ons and other 1911's the rest of the weekend. It's a sickness I feel I may having given my son.
