Default Dehorning question

Just got a VM-II holster for my Colt Combat Commander and noticed that my pistol shaved 1/16 of leather off on the first insertion.

The front of the slide is very sharp. Have any of you ever dehorned a stainless pistol or should I leave it to a pistolsmith.

I've dehorned non stainless I'd think stainless would be easier. Soften the edges and polish no worries about refinishing. Get a chunk of scrap and practice.

Or get with Clark Custom Guns. They have a "melt" that is really dehorned.

dehorning can be a negative if you ever need to use it as a club...

I have dehorned a bunch of stainless Colt 1911 variants. Super easy to do.

This is my SS Enhanced Commander. I even radiused away the flat top, leaving a 1/4" wide flat strip down the middle.

VERY funny. The "Enhanced" Model Colts had the flat top rib, undercut trigger guard and several other features not usually found on their guns.

I DeHorned my Colt Enhanced Officer's with a dremel and a small, fine grit, stone bit. One of the Reddish/brown colored ones. Go at it lightly and smoothly. Don't stop at any one place. It was pretty easy, and stopped tearing up my carry holster. It was mainly the ejection port area, but I did the front and rear of the slide, the hammer edges, the forward edge of the reciever as well as the rear, by the beavertail.
