Couldn't resist
Yup, just sold my Colt and another safe queen and I was going to not buy anymore guns. For the past several weeks a fella has had an STI Guardian listed for sale and since nobody has cash, he's been lowering the price. Well this morning he lowered it enough to get my attention so I'm meeting him this evening to pick it up. It's a .45 on an Officer's frame, low profile adjustable night sights, and the STI "recoilmaster" guide rod that is supposed to really tame the muzzle rise in these little beasts.
I've held a few STI's and I've been impressed with the fit & finish - we'll see tonight. Here's a stock picture...

Excellent! Let us know how it turns out. Of course, a range report and photos will be expected forthwith.

I'm waiting for The Dude to drop by and tell me what mags are good for officer-framed guns. While I have nearly 3 dozen good full-size 1911 mags - I have squat for an officer's frame...

If the Chip McCormick 7 rounders fit, I've got one for you. I ordered 2 8 rounders and they sent one 8 and one 7. Both in bags with papers that say 7 round .45 ACP. When I looked closer at the one that does not lock into the Springer, it is shorter and the slot is way off. I was gonna send it back, but jeebus, cost of doing that does not warrant it. If it would fit that beautiful piece, I would trade you for even a Springfield factory or another mag.

Colt's work best if you want a 7 round.
The Wilson 47DOX/47DOXB works well as a 8 round.
And the Tripp Research Cobra mag 7R-45-WO/7R-45-RO 7 round and the 8R-45-RG with the Officer's base pad for 8 round.
I have all three and am happy with all but think the Cobra is the best built with its hybrid follower.

Just got back from picking it up and it's a very pretty gun. I am also thrilled with the deal I got on it, as it worked out to basically trading my Colt Commander plus $75 cash. For Skull & Shihan, I'll send PMs in the morning with my address and I'll find a good 8 rounder for you Skull as I have a ton of them...
