From what I've seen, you would probably be better off looking on auction sites and such.
But at that price range, I don't know if I would want it. You can get .22's at that price. Why convert to a questionable setup if you want to go cheap?
Always go for the best you can afford.

Why convert? That's hard to answer, why put or change anything on a firearm, within legal reason. I think it's because I like my 1911, and if a .22kit functions on it for less than $200.00, I'll be happier with it than a $200.00 or less .22lr pistol. It's hard to find a decent .22lr for under $200.00. Maybe get a 22A, I've had one. My favorite .22lr is S&W Mod 41, but have you priced one of those. So, that's why I'm considering a conversion. Kimber folks seem to love their .22lr conversion kits. I'm not much on Kimber's, I've only had 1 so i won't rate them on forum. Thank you for prompt couteous reply.
Under $250 with 1 magazine is doable if the kit is used. The conversion mags aren't cheap though so that's more expense you'll face. I've had 1911 kits and Sig kits and I had about $300 in them once I got a minimum of 2 mags...
ciener kimber and marvel i believe make them the ceiner and kimber are under 200$ i have a kimber kit and it isnt very good. around 1000 rounds it has started siezing rounds int he chamber after firing. more people have had better luck with ciener and marvel. marvel are around 250+ if im not mistaken. ciener doesnt work with all 1911's

That's the story with firearms, buy the kit, then you buy the kit for the kit and so on.... I see where $300.00 would add up quick, I'm the kind of fella that needs 3 mags for each pistol and 3 speedloaders for each revolver. Even those little Buck Mark mags are $30.00 for a real 1.
