Recoil is such a subjective thing. The recoil certainly isn't uncomfortable to me, but it does affect follow up shots a little. That's why I like my 4" Kimber. On the other hand my wife doesn't really like the recoil from her XD-S 9mm.

I really don't notice that much difference in follow up shots until I go down to my .22 Mosquito. Though my EMP 9mm is a very smooth shooter too.

Those are very cool, as is the STI VIP but I rather put slim grips on my single stack. Much easier to conceal. It's amazing how much difference .2" makes.
