Is there a clear cut quality difference between any of these manufacturers as far as 1911's go these days? I'd like any opinions you all might have.

You mean in general ballpark terms? I mean a Colt government model or 1991 won't be nearly as nice as a Kimber Grand Raptor. But a Colt Gold Cup National Match will be 10 times the gun as a Kimber Custom II.

With so many japanese motorcycles on the road that are made better than Harleys, why do so many buy a Harley?

I was thinking more of the gereral build quality. I was looking at someting in the $1000 -$1200 range and just trying to narrow down the search a little bit. Like I like the sig carry nightmare. But thwn again how can you go wrong with the company who made the gun what it is today. I have also not heard much negative of the kimbers either. I'm jus looking for a good quality carry gun probably commander size maybe officer size but I have big hands so that might be on the small size. I'd honestly probably rather not carry a full size government model. I mean I'm a big guy so concealment would be the issue I think comfort would

That's a great question. I don't know why anyone buys a harley. It seems like those guys are always fixing something on them though

That's probably the Sig out. Seems like their best 1911 work is in the full-size models. And people talk, but the Sig 1911 is truly bad ass...

I have a Kimber stainless commander size 1911. A little weird to field strip at first bc of the full length guide rod. Excellent fit and finish, accurate, and fun to shoot. Downsides: the price and break in. I got lucky and got mine NIB for $800 back in 2008. I broke it in when ammo was about $15 for a box of 50 230gr ball. I put about 1200 rounds through it before I considered it reliable. Nowadays this will cost a small fortune to do. Don't have a Colt, but I have heard nothing but good about them. When I buy another one I'll prob get a high end Colt or if money allows a Springfield Professional.

Yes they are, i love the look of em. I got the tac ops. My sig is very accurate. I split a playing card dang near in half with one. But then agian the colt feels like raw power. They shoot the same caliber but you can tell the diffrence. I had both but i sold the colt....

I don't have any experience with Sig, and I agree with the comments on Kimber (though I don't have one, I've handled a few).
There is one part of me that says Colt is the way to go.
