its all point and shoot in self defense situations. your not going to be using it to arrest badguys and clear houses.

none of my defensive guns have night sights. well my ar15 does have an acog but thats a rifle. if you can see the goblin you can see the sights. but if lack of a strong sighting system bugs you then i suggest looking at the defender rather than the new agent.

Over the years, I seem to have learned to point shoot. I used to aim and line up the sights for the perfect shot. However that opportunity will not likely happen in a self defense situation. I feel much more confident with the way I shoot now.

Get the .45, it's a lot more fun to shoot IMO.

I don't have my carry permit yet. Just looking for a future carry weapon. I'm looking to get my permit sometime this year.

It does look like the crimson trace grips are available through the Colt website. I like the snag free nature of the trench sights and the laser grips may provide confidence to a novice shooter such as myself.

What type of ammo do you carry? I've heard of some concerns of the 3 inch barrel not providing sufficient velocity with standard rounds and that +p short barrel rounds should be considered?

Save your money and buy ammo and range/training time! Just when you get use to the laser........the battery will die.

There's a 90%+ chance your first PD action will be you fending off the bad guy's knife/gun with your weak side arm while you blow the dirt-bag's heart out with your gun only inches from your holster. Taking time to aim will get you dead!

I can tell you what I use but you need to let your carry gun tell you what it likes and cycles 100%.

I'm a somewhat decent shot at 5-7 yards. Didn't mean to sound like I can't hit the target or anything. But at the same time, I'm not clearing out the x-ring with 10 rounds either, lol.

I'm just in the market for another gun, would like to carry in the near future but at the same time, have no experience with this type of sight or a 3" barrel in .45 ACP. I certainly would not carry the gun without plenty of range time and break in.

I'm not trying to start a big debate between any types of barrel length/muzzle velocity matters, just curious what others carry.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback on it.

My bad, I think I may have misunderstood your post, at first. You were saying save the money on the laser grip. Sorry man.

It is not bad advice. I have removed the laser from my SP101.

It's a "Doctors Gun". You know; eyes, ears, nose and throat.

In a PD action what good is it to put a second bullet in the first hole?

Multiple traumas to multiple systems gets the job done.

Drop the blood pressure, drop the target!

In fight shooting all you need is minute-of-bad-guy.
