This Colt made me drool...but, no!
On a firearms classifieds site in my region I am selling a SA Loaded 5" parkerized so I can upgrade quality while moving to a commander-sized 1911. Someone offered this in trade:

For 36 hours I drooled all over my Macbook. Then he rescinded the offer. Oh well, there are guns everywhere. But I want THIS kind. Help me ID it.

It is clearly a Colt (Hartford, Conn.) Lightweight Commander. The sights, ambi safety, and front slide serrations make me think it is an XSE. What is tricking me is the finish. I want a Colt that matches my New Agent:

Please help me ID this gun so I can get one. I'd love to get a used one if anyone here wants to sell theirs to me. Eventually, I'll NP3/Roguard both to match. That'll be really cool! And I'd rather not cover a stainless steel gun.

Colt only offers XSE Lightweight Commanders in brushed stainless right now.

Colt Colt XSE Government - Colt Firearms O1980XSE : Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC

my preference is the series 70. it goes very well with the new agent.

I agree it looks like a government in the photo he sent me. But he said it was a Commander, and the slide clearly says, "LIGHTWEIGHT," which is unavailable in the 5". I think it is a Lightweight Commander.

And I know you are a fellow, proud New Agent owner, so I will look more into Series 70.

I've seen it described as a matte blue side and anodized aluminum frame on some random classifieds sight. But it also listed that gun for $1350, about $400 more than one could easily get a SS version new at my local shop.

maybe this?? :

Colt Colt XSE Lightweight Commander - Colt Firearms O4860XSE : Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC

its the same finish as the new agent its just a bad pic

Colt did make or is still making full size LW XSE's in black I think. The one shown is not a Commander. Maybe the lighting is off and that is black?

That's the stainless. The photo can't be that off, can it? Especially when it looks almost EXACTLY like my New Agent below it, which obviously has the finish we both know it has.

There are only a few times when the word covet actually means something to me. I <<heart>> that Colt.

Cane? I'll PM him to make sure he lays eyes on this thread.

if its not that then its a model they dont make anymore or a frankengun.

Colt Light Weight Government. Looks good!

So, the fellow must have been mistaken about the commander part. I was just thinking the photo seemed weird. Any idea how many ounces that Lightweight Government is? The full steel version is 37oz. and the Lightweight is 26oz., I think. My main reason for going with commander (and lightweight) is the weight so I can hold the gun 1-handed a little easier.

I'd really like blue carbon steel/black aluminum frame in a commander length.

Ever heard of that combination, Cane?
