Colt Lightweight commander
I posted about a RIA last week that I got good advice on. Hoping for the same about this one.
A 3 year old Colt Lightweight Commander in 45acp has been posted. Says he has run 50-100 rounds through it. Stainless. Wants $700. Can I go wrong?
I have shot hot .357 rounds a lot through a S&W, don't have any experience with the .45. Is the lightweight going to be hard to handle like a small 40 cal is reputed to be? Thanks.

A "Lightweight" means aluminum frame. While that is a good price, there are some things to consider.
It was designed to carry a lot and shot some. Steel frames are designed to be shot a lot.
With the Commander and the shorter barrel length, springs are changed more often than full size. Normally 2500-3000 rounds.

It will have just a little bit more felt recoil than a Steel framed 1911, but not much. Nice thing about .45 ACP is that it is more of a push than a snap, like .40 S&W is. You should be able to control the recoil fine. I had a Springfield LW Champion as my EDC and I shot it a decent amount. I never felt like it had a big difference in felt recoil from shooting my other steel government guns.

The recoil is no big deal at all. In fact, it's a very mellow recoil. As was said, it's more of a push than a snap.
Not only that, but the 1911 was designed for that caliber as opposed to some plastic pistol that comes in multiple calibers.

That's a great price, and a great carry gun.
And you will not notice the recoil if you are experienced with "hot" 357 mags.
If it says Lightweight on the slide, it has an alloy receiver. The slide is SS.

My Springer Champion is an alloy framed gun about the same size as the LW Commander and I don't feel much difference shooting it vs my steel framed 1911s. I'd pay $700 for one in good condition...

I have a Kimber Ultra (3in) and Sig 1911 (4.2in) and the recoil is very manageable. On the other hand the .357 loads through my S&W Model 19 and 65 give you a lot more jolt.
