Colt Brought Into The Shop

Yesturday afternoon a fellow brought in his Colt 1911 manufactured in 1944 and carried in WWII. He was asking if we could fix her up for him. So I asked him what did he want/need done to her and he said this, "I tried to do a some gunsmithing on her and I broke the grip saftey and some of the internals". I was about ready to smack him when I heard that . To make matters even worse he along with wanting her to be repaired, he also wanted to supe her up with stuff light night sighs, skeletonized hammer and trigger, and so on.

Tell him you lost it. Give him a different gun in compensation. Send that 1911 to me. I'll take good care of it.

I'm speechless.

I was able to convince him to sell it to us for $2,000 and I payed $1,500 to my boss. I had a friend of mine, who's a gunsmith, look at it and he said he can fix it so I'm going to have him fix her up, and give her to my wife for her birthday.

So... what stopped you? You already know his gun is broke down, go ahead and smack him.

And I would have to agree with winds of change on this one.

Thank you so much for rescuing that piece of history.
