Default Colt 1911 military issue slide

Where can I get a slide for my Colt 1911, the latest patent date is Aug. 1918.
the original slide had Property of U.S.M.C. on it but was scratched out by an idiot who thought it was stolen from the Government. The serial number checks out that it was made for the Marine Corp. Thanks Bob

If you still have the slide, you can probably have a quality gunsmith do some acid etching, bring back the original markings and refinish the slide.

Most people who "scratch" out markings or serial numbers very rarely do it correctly and it's pretty easy, in the right hands, to get the original markings back without a great deal of trouble.

Baring that, I am at a loss on this one & would have to defer to the forum, I think you are going to be looking to rob Peter to pay Paul unless you find a similiar slide for sale at a local gun show or something.

Best of luck -

JD

Default colt slide

This guy did a number on the slide with what looked liked a round rat tail file. I had a gunsmith clean it up to get rid of the gouges.
