Colt 1911

Where can a guy buy a new Colt? All the vendors seem to be out of stock.

my local gun dealer from whom i buy most of my firearms from kept bugging his connections for 6 months till he got a brand spanking new colt series 70 for me. its one of the side benefits of not buying from big box stores and online dealers :)

Might be better posted in the 1911 section.

If you have a local shop, they can almost always order whatever you want from one of their vendors. Most will charge a percentage, some will charge a flat rate. My experience is that my local shops want to make a lot of money for as little effort is possible. They charge $50 just for an FFL transfer fee and will gouge you on price to order a gun. Not saying they all do this, but all of them in my area sure do! The way I bypass this is by checking the pawn shops that have their firearm licenses. Most don't keep a lot of overheard and they use the same wholesalers as the gun shops. I've found several pawn shops that will order whatever you want you pay their wholesale cost plus an additional $20 to $25. That's why I hardly ever shop at my local gun shops. That, and they all talk out their @$$ and think they know everything about the history of every single gun ever made.

If no luck through those avenues, I would suggest creating an account at Bud's Gun Shop online. Find the gun you want and see if they have it in stock. If not, add it to your "wish list" and you will get an email the instant they get the gun in stock and you can go run and order the gun. My experience is that Bud's is pretty competitive on their pricing.

Sorry for posting in the wrong place. I looked at the site mentioned yesterday. I am still undecided whether to buy a SS gun as I don't have one in Colt Auto. What would be a good choice? I kinda like the Rail gun?

The 1911 is all about personal taste. Some like rails on their 1911 and some don't. Doesn't mean there is a right or wrong? Decide what feels the best and serves your purpose the best.

Well, one thing about the gun shop is that it is only about 25 miles from me. I will just pay them a visit.

Maybe it's a sign that a Colt is not the 1911 you really need...;)

I like the fact that the Colt is all steel. Feels better in hand. I have a S&W MP in 45 and just the top rail is steel I think. I need to get it out and look at it. I have a M1991A1 45 Colt that is my fav shooter.
