The Commander is between the Government model and the Gold Cup model so you bought a very nice pistol.

Commander

The $1300.00 range is correct for a new pistol. The Commander is much more expensive than the sandard Government model. You would need to find out what the model you have has in the way of construction differences. I am going by old memeory on this but many had allow frames, the larger safety tang for the web of your hand and all the tolerances were much closer than on regular gov. models. The Skeleton hammer was standard but many of the Commanders were in 9mm and a few were .38 Super.

What you have is a Gov. model that Colt went through and upgraded to make much more reliable and accurate. You got a real keeper there!

$1100 would be the high end on that gun. I don't have my Blue Book with me at work right now though.

1100 to 1300 new, not used. Granted the price does not drop a lot these days but it does go down some. the Commander retains it's value better than the Governement model. Most of the 1911 pistols you buy today have the better parts and many attachments that you had to pay extra for just a few short years ago.

A Combat Commander simply means this 4.25" 1911 is all steel.

Combat Commander Series 80 Blue Finish;
95% = 600$
98% = 700$
