Far as I know Colt never STOPPED making 1911 handguns... LOL
But yes, they are currently producing 1911 handguns and they even have joined the rest of the companies and now offer one with the Tacti-Cool frame mounted rail system, if you need that for something..... JD |
hey thanks guys im getting ready to go get my insurance check from the bike i totaled on friday and i was thinking a 1911 would make this road rash feel better faster:D im stuck between a colt and a kimber though.........well shat i just thought of ed brown crap decisions decisions

LOL - That is the 'Curse of the 1911" there are just so many good ones to be had.... :D
You need to get out to a couple of shops and handle, perhaps rent and shoot if at all possible, a few of them and see what one you like. Internet shopping is fun, but until you hold them, shoot them, you aren't going to be able to make an educated purchase..... Where you at NARC? Maybe somebody near by you would offer up their pistol for a range test. I know both Cane and I would in a heartbeat. :D JD |
central occupied illinois, one of the most gun unfriendly states in the world IMO, there is one decent shop but his stock is pretty limited due to the recent frenzy. Ive decided against the ed browns they are super nice but 2800 is somewhat steep. I have handled several 1911's in the last year or so and they all pretty much feel the same, i dont really like the picitany rail or the ambi safities, if i feel the need for one later ill have it added. For now the kimbers seem like a good choice.
The only reason i asked if Colt stopped making guns was it seems like I have never see a new one in a gun shop, or have ever heard of anyone getting a new one. |
