That's why they have radios and call for backup.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Last Monday, I was walking across my backyard with a friend and happened to be wearing my S&W 1911 (in .45acp as God intended). Suddenly I noticed movement about 1-12 feet away. It was a 4' 5" inch cotton mouth snake and it was coiling.

I shoved the friend back, drew the 1911 and with a rough aim, fired. The snake lost his head and fell straight down immediately.

This shot would not have been possible with any of the other guns I own, in any style, in any caliber. I can stack bullets at 30 feet with the S&W 1911. While I may someday sell my other guns, the S&W 1911 is not going anywhere.
Why can't you do it with the other guns you own? I'm not a good shot yet. But, I can't think of a gun that isn't capable of 1" groups at 12 ft.

The answer to that is simple - the 1911 is the most natural pointing handgun ever built. It turns even mediocre shooters into good shooters. Many folks scoff at this until they pick one up and shoot it for the first time.

The bottom line is 1911s are very easy to shoot well instinctively, when the stress is on - instinctive shooting becomes more important than careful aiming...

1911's rock, but any decent service grade pistol could make that shot.

But would they look as cool while doing it? Nah...

Affirmative. 1911s are probably the prettiest guns around. And there are so many accessories, finishes, grips, etc. available you can make them look the way you like.

There is a lot of guns that will not shoot a 1" group at even 10 feet.

Add to the mix that most officers miss adult suspects at less than 20 feet. We are not talking inch groups but human targets at 20 feet with multiple shots and zero hits.

Now take a gun out of a holster, aim it at a snake that is coiling up about to strike and see how much time you take to aim. Add darkness to the mix since it was about a half hour after sunset.

I am a good shot and shoot maybe 1,000 rounds a yr in qualifying or at the range but never have I take out a snake with a head shot while under pressure.

Default Heavy is reliable

I've shot more than a 1/2 dozen other pistols. (Glock, M9, XD 9 etc...)
None was as easy or as accurate as my Kimber.
OK, they might have been as accurate (doubtful), but I haven't been
able to shoot the shorter barreled/double-action guns.
