The only 1911 I could hate would be one that is pointed at me! As far as high capacity guns...I would rather have 9 big bullets than 15 little ones any day.

I am not a cop. If I need more than 9 shots in a 45 then I must have missed a bunch of times!

Why would a cop need more than 9 shots? The academy teaches cops that we are not in Dodge City.

I guess I must be an old simpleton, because I'm just glad we have a choice of manufacturers, and calibers. I have my preferences, but that doesn't mean I have to "hate" anyone else's choice. I realilze that lots of posts in this thread are just kidding (I think), but I'm really surprised at the number of "hate Glock" or hate 1911", or hate another gun threads there are out there.... how silly is it to hate an inanimate object ?

again.... maybe I'm just old, and out of touch. That's probably why I like 1911's....in .45ACP.

FWIW I have an uncle that is an engineer and a cousin that is a metallurgist. MIM has its places. Its place is not replacement for parts not designed to be MIM from the get go. JMB did not have the cheap MIM option so he designed his parts from what he had available. I know it is just my opinion but I bet JMB would not feel MIM would be good to replace his design in the shape and form he made them.

MIM is only 90-97% as dense as barstock or cast. I have no need for even a 3% less dense part as serious as a sear. No thanks on MIM in 1911s for me...
I'm with you on the MIM, and for the same reasons.

Any 1911 owner would be well served by stocking up on Ed Brown parts, and the knowledge to fit and replace them as needed.

My Kimber SIS is full of MIM (I guess)
I will probably upgrade the critical components in the near future for piece of mind- Hammer, sear, disconnector, safeties.
But I just got done detail stripping and cleaning it for tomorrows match. I've got well over 6000 rounds through it in the last 5 months with no malfunctions and there is still no noticeable wear on any of the components.........
Whats one to think???? Is it a ticking timebomb? or did I just get MIM lucky?
