Some people think the break in period is bs, but I assure you it is not.

The break in period issue got my attention. I know some think if it doesn't work out of the box, it's broke. Then others believe in the break in period.

Some say there's the official break in periods with some 1911 manufacturers so a person will be disinclined to send the gun back. One esteemed person noted most 1911's are not shot much, which the manufacturers take into account.

The issue that says to me break in is valid is that today's 1911's are tighter than the ones of decades past.

Not sure if I agree with break in periods, I bought 3 1911 this year and none needed any break in at all and they were all different makes. I did start all of them with CMC Shooting Star mags, Wilson combat and now Tripp Research Cobra Mags I think theses will be my magazines of choice. The Remington and Colt both came with 2 mags and I still use them but not near as much as the others, all mine have well over 500 rounds and none of them have any issues or problems, I think out of all the rounds they have fired only a few FTF and FTE
and that was probably my reloads. I really think the biggest feed problems are with $hitty magazines so I just won't use them.

Try a bunch. Let the gun tell you what ammo it likes.

Funny how I have a few 1911s and the only two that chocked were my fault. I didn't clean or lube them properly before shooting them as I was in a hurry to get out and shoot and used cheap mags. One was a Ruger and the other was a Remington. Mags HAVE made a differance in how well they ran. I use oil on anything that rotates and grease on anything that slides. I don't believe in a break in period. I work hard for my money and it better run out of the box or goodbye and I won't buy that brand again.
