Alway nice to see another decent 1911. Springfield Range Officer and STI Spartan are others that folks can consider at a similar price point. I like the Novak sights on your Ruger though.

I definitely recommend people take a look at the Range Officer.

Unfortunately, I lost a lot of confidence in Springfield with the problems I have had with my Loaded.

I now recommend that people buy a SR1911 before they hand over $$ to SA for a 1911.

the Ruger SR1911 seems to be a very nice pistol and even my LGS recommends them highly. but the problem right now according to him is production which leads to availability. he has six of them on backorder and has no idea as to when they could arrive. he ordered these before the suspended any new orders at the first of April. yes i would like one too, but i believe i will have to wait until they become more readily available.

I wanted one of those Rugers, my guy couldn't get one. Then I wanted either a Springfield or Para Ordnance, my guy couldn't get either of those. I settled on a Remington... I'll know if I screwed-up Monday.

Pretty sure ruger suspended production on the sr1911 in order to make more polymer guns.

Every time Ruger comes out with something there is a wait and some lgs tend to gouge. Don't ask how I know (Redhawk)

Well, as long as you're "pretty sure" - that's hard to argue with, especially with the backup data you've provided.

Ruger suspended ordering on ALL GUNS not just the sr1911. They have a backlog of over 1 million guns on order. The demand for the sr1911 far outstripped the production capability for that gun - and the projected market.

The president of Ruger has sent several letters to individuals with exact production numbers on the sr1911 and that they've invested another $3+ million in production equipment dedicated to the sr1911 to help remedy the situation.

They are attempting to triple the production rate on the sr1911 to meet the demand.
