Agreed. Cane, where did you find your beavertail?

Value is in the eye (and wallet) of the beholder. A $4000 Wilson Combat or Nighthawk may be a good value if that's how you roll. Especially if your betting your life on it working. A $400ish Rock Island may not seem like an especially good deal if you sink a bunch of money into to get it the way you want it.
How much are you willing to spend.?

What is your intended use for it? Range only? Full out match paper punching? Concealed carry? Nightstand? BBQ? You may wish to spend a bit more on something you will be defending your life with.
What features do you have to have? How about nice to have? Rail? Checkering? Night Sights? Adjustable match sights? Black finish?
Springfield Armory offers something for nearly all tastes and most budgets. Browse through their line-up to get an idea.

I would'nt say NO to this rail version but I hope they're going to be available in other finishes for the civilian market besides desert tan.

I dunno. Doing a DIY on a Colt factory finish would be like throwing a big coat over Kate Upton...kinda sacrilegious and somewhat unnecessary!

But since Colt is bringing their 1911 more to current mil-specs I would like to see them offer the MARSOC rail gun in a modern, durable black oxide finish similar to H&K, and Sig Sauer.

I have a citadel full sized and paid about 550 for it. Gives no problems at all I've shot ball ammo and jhp the ought it flawlessly. I also have a Ruger sr1911 only shot it a few times though but no hiccups or failures.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!
