If you're not using a belt designed specifically to hold a gun securely, carrying a 1911 is next to impossible. The belt is actually more important than the holster IMO. I use Wilderness Tactical Instructor 5-stitch belts and they're great and will support a full-size steel gun...
MTAC all the way. I got a Crossbreed and a MTAC, MTAC is soooooooooo much nicer.

How so? I own a Crossbreed and like it for the most part. My biggest complaint is retention (or lack thereof). I've heard great things about MTAC from a lot of people though, and may buy one anyways.

I'm curious how much better the Crossbreed will get with my new belt.

Better leather clips hold it on the belt better. It wears better. The Crossbreed leather is not as thick. Retention is better you will see after you get one why it better. They also send you candy with it.
