I have a SA loaded A1 made the first year they made them and it is a tighter slide and frame fit than any other 1911 I've owned, shot, or picked up: Kimber, Colt(don't hate me), Taurus, rockriver, or Wilson Combat. Both my loaded A1 and MC Operator shoot on par or better than high end 1911. SA makes one of the finest 1911s in my opinion.
the gun is only as good as the operator.......

I can't but wonder, what pressing need was addressed by bringing this thread back to life?

Because we can.

Actually, it was an insomnia night and a review of some old threads. Why keep them if not to review and bring ones of interest back to life?

Are they "Sarge's" handiwork?
He made the ones on my EB Kobra and I have to agree with your "best gun I've ever owned" comment too!!
Mine is as close to perfection in a gun as possible.
(although I just picked up a DW Guardian in 9mm that is pretty close)

No they are from a Guy named Spressor Grips. Makes a lot of natural products like Ivory, old mammoth tusk, buffalo horn etc, purchased several from him. Does good work.

Love the ivory.

Speaking of 1911 colts, are they still putting out their gold cup national match pistols? I've been wanting to get my hands on one, but I'm not really sure if they are just a special limited edition or what. Or even one of the blue steel special combats.
