Looking for a compact 1911 to add to the collection.....cannot afford a Kimber or Springfield at this time so looking into the Philippine officer sized 1911s. Obviously I looked over the Rock Island but I cannot get past the cheap parkerized finish...and blank combat style sights. I prefer dots, at least on the front sight post for quick target acquisition.
Looked at the ATI Titan 3.19" compact 1911 and mixed reviews but overall the feedback was decent. Has a couple flimsy looking parts mainly the recoil spring assembly. They seem to use some paper thin cheap-o recoil buffer that can easily bend & warp. I suppose I could replace this recoil assembly with a quality kit like Colt or Wilson Combat if they make it. I dont plan to use this as a EDC pistol more just a range gun and have wanted an officer .45 1911 for a while now. I like the overall fit & finish of this pistol....and for $525 including 2 mags I cant complain and nit pick! I just dont wanna sink $500 into a gun that will suck.
Anybody own one and can give some REAL feedback? How does it eat various FMJ and JHP and whats your overall rating? Thanks guys

also check out the MetroArms American Classis Amigo. i have had two of the AC 1911's and was very pleased with them. the first one i had was the AC II Government model. great pistol. my second one and the one i still have is the AC Commander. again a great pistol for the price and am very happy with it.
I too have the American Classic Commander in.45...bought it last year before the frenzy...much heavier than my Colt Commander. Great sights, beaver tail...can't use a CTC though due to the oversized slide lock and for some reason, could not get an extended length buffer to fit. All in all, great cc firearm!
Have had mine for about 6wks, about 150 rds through it with 1 fte other than that no problems.
