Default Ati 1911-22

Went to the new Cabelas here in Denver yesterday with my 12 year old son and step-dad. My son and I were looking at 22 pistols. He really liked the S&W M&P until he held the Sig 1911-22. Then we saw the ATI slightly used for $100 less than the Sig. Comparing the 2, it looks like GSG makes both. They are exactly the same other than the name on the side. Grandpa stepped in and bought it for my son. There was one happy kid at Cabelas last night! Does anyone have any experience with the ATI?

GSG and Sig Sauer 1911s are manufactured by GSG. Other than different choices in finish and grips, the guns are the same. Sig may offer a better warranty.

Now the important thing is you and your son ought to plan lots of time having lots of fun. How about a range report?

The finish on the rails may need to be smoothed down some and may take about 200 - 300 rounds to do that. Using high velocity, round-nose, copper washed/plated rounds will make that break in period easier.

I haven't had any experience with the 22 but I owned one in 45 and it performed flawlessly. The only reason I traded it off is because it was a commander size.

They are great guns for the money. I have one from the 1st few months they were out. 80% of the parts can be changed out with any 1911 part. here's mine.
