Default It Appears The Marines Are Returning To The 1911

http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/colt-1911a1-rail-gun-possibly-selected-marine-corps-special-operations-commands-new-45-pistol/?utm_source=iContact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign =Outdoor%20Hub%20News&utm_content=July+19%2C+2012+ 2012+Mountain+Climbers

It looks like the Marines Special Forces are going back to the old reliable 1911......Again. The contract calls for 4,000 handguns for $22,500,000.00 That come out to $ 5,625.00 per handgun. Not the usual $10K toilet seat, but close. I'm sure there are a ton of barrels, magazines, additional sights, and assorted other spare parts in there as well.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Well they never should have departed from it in the first place.

Having said that, I am glad they are coming back to the Enlightened Side. As to the $5,625 per gun, they are buying from Colt, what do you expect??

I'm guessing the $5,625 per gun would include some type of maintenance services for the first 3-5 years.

From what the article states, It's MARSOC that is supposedly putting in the order and they use 1911s currently, just hand-assembled modified 1911s put together by armorers at the Corps’ base in Quantico, Virginia from an amalgamation of government issue and aftermarket parts instead of Colt Railed 1911s.

Either way it's a great choice!

** snot bubble **

And the 5.6K$/gun includes service parts of the same build generation.

If it had been Kimber, it would have been 10K$/gun!
