I bought a Kimber Ultra Carry II upon their introduction in 2001 - back when they were still affordable for someone like myself.
Decided I'd like to have another compact 1911 but didn't want to drop the big bucks if there was a decent economical alternative. Found a lightly used Citadel Compact for a sweet price and, after a bit of research, when ahead with the purchase.
I like the Citadel so far but I'm still breaking it in. These firearms do seem to need a little break-in to get everything playing with one another nicely. I'm using Wilson mags and plan to upgrade the sights to the XS 24/7. I'm also going to do a Duracoat job on the pistol as the factory finish is not as durable as I'd like. Nice trigger to start, got better after a few hundred rounds. Didn't like the grips, replaced them with my favourite VZ slabs.
Glad I bought the little Citadel - I'd certainly do it again. Love the Kimber but you're going to pay for one now. The Citadel delivers a lotta bang for the buck (yes, intended!).
