Default Anyone have a Dan Wesson?

I was reading G&A today and CZ has started making 1911s under the name. CZ is a great gun, so I wouldn't expect anything less than good. Opinions?

They haven't "just" started, they've been doing so for several years now! I think you're a little late to the party. DW 1911s have always been very highly regarded in respect to their quality, accuracy, features, and value. In the past, they were considered a lot of bang for your buck. Their new models offered within the last year are even better quality, but the price has increased and now they are competing with Les Baer and other high end makers. I currently own 2, both 10mms, and they are fantastic guns. You'll have a hard time finding one used and if so, they seemed to be priced almost as high as a new one.

Yeah, that's unsurprising. I was looking over the Specialist model and was pretty impressed. I just haven't heard of them I guess.

That's one of the newest models, so I anticipate you'll have a hard time finding one and you'll definitely pay a premium. When they introduced the Valor series and I saw the pricepoint, I lost interest as I'd rather spend the money on a Baer.

The Dan Wesson line is very good. The older ones used what appeared to be Ed Brown parts.
Every DW I've had and still have are exceptionally accurate.

I just picked up, about two/three weeks back, a DW Guardian in 9mm (they also make this gun in .45).
It is a commander size (4.25" barrel) bobtail 1911 that is lightweight (aluminum frame).
I have been looking for one in my area here for over a year. You cannot find them in stock and no one sells them used once they get one.
Even most discount internet sellers (like Buds) stays out of stock in the Guardian most of the time.

It is absolutly awesome! I can knock down small pie plate sized metal plates at 25 yards with ease. Have put about 300 to 350 round through it so far.
This gun is as accurate as my EB Kobra.

New Sarge grips that just came in:

I have a pre-CZ Pointman in .45acp and a new model Guardian in 9mm. Both fantastic guns.

I purchased a Valor Bob in Duty Finish a couple months ago. It is sweet. I actually like my Valor Bob much better than the Baer models. IMO the Wesson shoots much more accurate and you really get a LOT more out of a Wesson for your Money compared to a Baer.

On the other hand, that Razorback is a beautiful firearm. I really like the grips on the C-Bob, but I do like a more tactile grip. Great firearms!
