Default American Made 1911s

I wanted to start a thread about American-made 1911s.

Which ones are only assembled here, using foreign-made parts, and which are genuinely American-made (if such a thing still exists)?

Please post links to validate your responses when appropriate. Although I tend to be leery of what some manufacturers claim. I usually think of it as marketing.

Maybe this can be a good resource for those interested.

subbing in. sounds like an interesting subject to ponder on.

Colt. as far as i know, they are pretty much made and assembled here in the US.

Remington. the same as far as i know as well.

Ruger. the same.

Springfield Armory. some are made in Brazil and assembled here in the US and some are made in the US from what i have read before. if someone has more information than i do, i would like to hear it.

STI. some of theirs have the frames and slides made by Armscor in the Phillipine Islands and then assembled here in the US with STI internals.

Dan Wesson. i believe they too are made right here in the us as well.

Ed Brown. Wilson Combat. NightHawk Custom. Les Baer. pretty sure all of these are made right here in the US as well.

Thanks Axxe. That jives with what I've heard pretty much.

I just really wanted a list somewhere for people to find and use when making a purchase decision, if American-made is one of their criteria.

..l.
The only STI pistols not made in Texas are the Spartan models. They are manufactured by the STI Division of Armscor on a separate line and built to STI specifications. The internals are made by STI. The pistols are assembled by Armscor and shipped to STI for quality control and distribution. Also, STI takes care of all warranty work.

For what it's worth, the Philippines were once an American territory and have remained very good and important trading partners in the South Pacific.
