Olympus, I am thinking about getting a AC myself, I am concerned about he function of the pistol, from what you and others have posted, just wondering, when you send your pistol back for warranty repair, do they pay for the shipping both ways?

No, you pay the shipping going there and they pay the shipping coming back.

Don't do it! Spend the extra $100 - $200 and get something that works without sending it in for repair. It's gonna cost you about $70 to send the gun in for repair assuming you only have to send it in once.

Not sure why it would cost $70. Reynerson's said just send it however I wanted through FedEx. Cost me $10.

I didn't check FedEx, but UPS policy requires it to be shipped "Over Night Early Delivery" service which is about $70. Of course a dealer can ship it USPS for $12.

As far as the 4.25 barrel length I certainly do not have any problems with the shorter barrels on a good quality 1911. I have a Rock River Elite Commando later known as the Pro Carry since Colt did not like them calling them a Elite Commando!!!! WA! WA! Of course they didn't like Bushmaster or other companies using the terminology of M-4 either! *But they lost!
It will shoot a 1 inch group out of the Ransom Rest at 50 yards. Yes I said 50 not 25. That is as good as it gets and from a 4.25" barrel as you mentioned. I also have a Colt Commander LT Wt. that was customized by Chuck Larson of Rock River and it almost shoots as good. It too is a 4.25 Barrel. If you want to see them you can go to my Gallery. Bottom line I think the American Classic would be a good choice.

A 1 inch gun at 50!!! Is it a purpose built bullseye gun that only shoots wadcutters? Also, do they still make them? I would assume it could possibly be more accurate in a 5" model. What is the msrp on a gun like that?

Length of the barrel has nothing to do with the accuracy.
It is how well things work together.
The length of the barrel helps with the sight radius. The longer the barrel, the easier it is to align the sights correctly.

Default An answer for Jesse 17

I recently had to send my Bersa to Reynerson's for some warranty work and I was under the impression that gun transfers had to go through an FFL holder. WRONG, you can mail a gun anywhere through the USPS merely by breaking it down and mailing it in two packages. That way it is not a gun, just machined parts at only a fraction of the cost of UPS.

Hi I purchased an american classic II from METRO ARMS a few yrs back, pd only $450 in Missouri. My background, I used to have a gun shop near chicago, Dekalb Illinois to be exact. I owned a colt series 70 mark 4, and I can tell you that the metro arms american classsic II was as good OR BETTER THAN THE COLT! I have shot many 45 acp pistols over my 60 yrs, and as far as I am concerned....the Metro arms american classic II is the best deal out there at present. when i went to the gun shop here in St Joseph Mo, I wanted to get a RIA or the one with the initials...kvm or something like that. both are well made in the phillipines (REMINGTON 1911 PISTOLS ARE MADE THERE TOO BY THE WAY!) if you are looking for a great pistol, then the american classic II is the way to go. i never thought I would like what I thought was one of those wimpy versions with the skeletonized hammer and trigger....I mean who needs to have that itty bitty lil bit of weight taken off a gun anyway? if you cannot take the extra 2 to 4 oz of weight, good greif! anyhow...I looked at the 1911 version, and then at the classic II which was only TWENTY BUCKS MORE for all the extras,,,,extra slide grooves, fancy hammer and trigger, the grip beavertail style safety, 8 rd clip. NOVAK style adjustable sights ( which I think is kinda goofy for a pistol, but still nice) there it is, my review......hope you like your commander sized version, I love my full size 45...use it in good health and my you never ever ever need to use it against anyone to defend you home and family..god bless!
