You could always look into the Wilson Combat pre-fit slide/frame/barrel kit to start a custom pistol.

My first 1911 was a Caspian / Wilson build... but my brother in law did the build he's a retired Army armorer / gunsmith not that he built guns for the Army but he knows his way around a machine shop.It's my best shooter.
