I didn't care, and to be honest I hadn't run that much through her when I got the Wilson Combat guide rod and dropped it in.

The best improvement in performance can be gained by a few professional shooting lessons. Price goes up with those though!

The 1911a1 is a handgun that can "personalized" to individual tastes. IMO, leave it alone (well, maybe get his name engraved on the slide).

Lap the slide only if it needs it.

Get some Tripp Research Gen II Cobra Mags for him. Tripp Research, Inc.

Tell Aaron canebrake said hi, and if Shari answers the phone please do the same.

Great bunch of people and a great product!

And for the coup de grâce, have Sarge make him a custom set of grips!

Some googling has revealed to me a bit of a split on if it's necessary or improves performance at all.
i had a guide rod in my springfield 1911a1 for a bit i didnt notice any difference other than a pain taking it apart for cleaning. the one i have is from wilson. i dont think they help or hinder a 1911.
