It doesn't have to be tupperware to mount a bayonet.

They did, it was called a BP10 and it was a double stack. I held one once and it just didn't feel right. It looked stupid too because the frame necked down to a normal width 1911 slide. They stopped making them a while back, they just never caught on and I think they had some issues mostly associated with the magazines if my memory is right.

I'm an old fart and I like my old gun. It's just so inherently pleasing in the elegance of it's function. And as the trooper who taught my concealed carry class said," It's not the best gun for a police officer to be arresting people, holding them at gunpoint and cuffing them single handed; but for something to just grab and kill your neighbor you can't beat it."

I'm sorry but I don't see the logic in that statement.

And your answer to that argument is a Taurus? What's your point?

Sounds like another Taurus hater to me. I have a PT1911 and for the last 2 years it has out shot and out performed any colt or springfield that I've owned or shot at a fraction of the cost. no malfunctions of any kind and very accurate.
to the OP try to pistol whip someone with a plastic gun. Even when it's empty the 1911 is a good weapon.
