Those are all beautiful works of art, but that LAR is very interesting, I'm curious as to what the life span will be. . . .

Thanks gentlemen!
The LAR is buit like a bank vault. Slide and frame are seriously overengineered and it is as tight a fit as my Wilson Combat. In it's heyday it cost a fair chunk of change (MSRP was $933 and they did NOT discount these guns). LAR stopped making them because they just cost too much to make.
This example is all original and I do shoot it from time to time. It has been 100% reliable with every form of factory ammo I have put through it from 180gr SP to 240 gr HPs. The gun is very accurate and I have no problems keeping all my shots in the vitals area of a deer at 50 yards though this is by no means a target gun.
The recoil is manageable but that is subjective and I'm not recoil shy (I used to own a 4" 500 that most folks were too scared to shoot) though it takes a little time to get used to that massive slide coming back. The grip area as you would imagine is huge and it hold six rounds in the mag, +1 in the chamber for a 7 round capacity.
It does not fit in holsters designed specificaly for a 1911 though I can carry it in any of the generic holsters built for large 5" barreled autos.
