45 ACP +p+ load????
Has anyone out there worked up a +p+ load using power pistol or unique in a 230gr bullet? And if I load with a magnum primer instead of a standard will I get any more velocity. Currently, I am loading 7.5gr of power pistol with standard primer.
thanks,
radtec

if your at max load dont use magnum primers. dont go over published data. its there for a reason.
you can use magnum pistol primers in 45acp long as your well under listed charge weights.
if you really want a serious 45 loading check out the 460 rowland. more oomph than a 44mag in a 1911.

460 Rowland Conversion Kits for your 1911
awesome customer service. they bead blasted my kit for free to match the parkerized finish of my springfield. its a very easy round to load for and the kit functions using regular 45acp rounds. all you need is standard 45acp dies and rowland brass. it uses the same components as 45acp just more powder. the cases are longer so you dont accidentally chamber them in a standard 45acp 1911
it only adds slightly to the weight and uses standard 1911 mags. i wouldnt hesitate to use it on a bear if needed 230 grn fmj at 1400+ fps will ventilate a bear no problems

i got my brass from clark custom when i ordered the kit. 28$ per 100 starline brass. it can also be made from 30-06 308 and 270 brass in a pinch.
reloading data can be found at the bottom of the clark custom page
recoil is on par with 357 mag 158 grn loads from a revolver
there are some 1911 it doesnt work with due to lower strength frames such as all aluminum and poly frames and some weak steel frames.
eye protection is a MUST with this kit as the muzzle brake will spray burnt powder in your face.

The best candidates for this kit are STEEL FRAME single stack Springfield Armory(including current production GI & Mil-Spec models), Sig Sauer, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Para Ordnance, Kimber, Norinco, Dan Wesson and 1911 style 45 ACP semi-auto pistols. We prefer and recommend Blued guns over Stainless.

call em if yours doesnt fall in that list. very friendly folk. my kit didnt fit i sent it in to them for a free fitting. i paid shipping costs one way
