Was in Wally World yesterday picking up some rounds. Federal Champion 230gr 45acp was $14.95 per 50.

My Walmart hasn't had 45 ACP in ages, or at least it's been sold out when I checked. No doubt they get it in but it sells out quick. 9mm was the same until lately, now they seem to keep Federal 115gr FMJ in stock ($10). I picked up two boxes a few hours ago.

I seen in in a couple Ky Walmart stores over the last week or so. and plenty of it. I guess it's a where you are thing. In fact it's been somewhat easy to get along with most other pistol calibers for a while now.

OK lets get one thing straight walmart ammo is exactly the same as the ammo you pay twice as much or 3x as much at Gander Mtn and othe stores. they are all made by the same machines at the same factory. They are loaded to the same specs (SAMMI) as all other ammo. So where is the problem and why all the bad mouthing?

Indeed, Tango is correct, it's all the same stuff....if you can find it there. 45 ammo seems to be scarce around the Walmarts in these parts. But I ain't paying 1.5-2 times more for the same ammo at the other outdoor specialty stores, unless I can't find it in bulk online or at Walmart.

Is there an adapter kit available for the pistol you are pursuing? There are some pistols that can be fit with an adapter to shoot .22's for cheaper plinking, but i don't know if you can find a 1911 setup that would make this possible. Of course, not all 1911's are .45; i saw somebody selling their 9mm 1911 online this week.

(Goju, that lion is soooooo about to take that lamb's head off; look at the eyes. )

edit* http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=168142433 This is the kit i was thinking of; it isn't cheap but would probably save a ton on target shooting.

If you have a friend/shooting buddy you can split cost and get even better savings sometimes. Reloading isn't for everyone. I do it but there are ways to save if you look around.
I have three folks in the house shooting IDPA and three gun matches. I don't reload because I do not have time. I buy UMC 250 round bulk packs 4-5 at a time in 9mm, 40S&W and .45 at Walmarts and .223/5.56 Federal in 100 packs 5 -10 at a time. I have been doing this for a long time. I have NEVER had even 1 issue. It's the same ammo you get everywhere else and cheaper than most places.

Like I said, those links were for defense ammo, which you can expect to run $40/box.

Most of my range ammo gets picked up at Walmart, be it 22lr, 223, 9mm....whatever really. Keep checking Wally Worlds. Ammo is heavy, so shipping charges dissolve most online deals. They almost always have 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp where I'm at, but I believe there still exists a 6-box limit.
